A home study is required when a family chooses to
adopt a child either domestically or internationally.
Home studies are begun as soon as a family
identifies which placing agency they wish to use.
Adoptive Family Services can provide consultation as
the family makes their selection.  Our role is to
complete the home study and assist the family in
meeting the requirements of their placing agency.
Following placement, Adoptive Family Services
conducts post-placement meetings with the family and
provides reports to the placing agency and to the West
Virginia court (if necessary) for finalization of the
adoption.
Completing the mound of necessary documents is
often a daunting task when adopting a child.  Adoptive
Family Services can help relieve the stress and
uncertainty of the process.  We have experienced
personnel who have been in your shoes.  Let us be
there to hold you hand, walk you through the process
and show you the ends and outs of getting your
paperwork done quickly and accurately.  Our goal is
to unite you with your child(ren) as soon as possible.
